Update on my book: feedback requested!

My latest task is to write a 150-word description of my book. Such description must be simple yet engaging, brief yet packed full of tantalizing details. . .here’s my first stab at it, and I would be most grateful for some constructive criticism. . .so here goes.

Book Description:

Which is funnier, a loaf of bread or a bear? Who has the worst mosquitos, Panama or Arctic Alaska? Why aren’t people scared of herbivores? This book will explore these and other weighty questions, such as how to coexist with salmonberries, why a short plane flight in rural Alaska might take six hours, and what the principal should do when a bear is peering into a classroom window.

These one hundred short essays cover topics such as Alaskan wild foods, fear of spiders, love of fireworks and roller coasters, and why cats are good for you. The writings are accompanied by the author’s drawings and photographs, including images of the Alaskan wilderness as seen from the air.

Join this author while she tries to decide if making an electric lamp out of a pickle would be a good idea, or if she should sign up for an “intermediate” mountaineering class. Who knows? You might even get a side trip to Mars.

  1. I think it is great, I would want to read it if I had never heard of it before. However, you asked for constructive criticism (spelling?) so I think your last paragraph should be more general, maybe a little more personal about you and why you love writing so? Rather than more examples from your book, (which are all truly tantalizing) or you could put them up in a previous paragraph.

    1. Thank you, I really appreciate the suggestion. I am also trying to make sure my sentences are short and “easy to scan” as per the instructions from amazon.

Thanks for reading! Any musings or recollections of your own to share?
