In which Dollop, the meanest cat alive, retreats to the attic

Posted on April 27, 2021December 21, 2021 by Evelyn J. Willburn

Many thanks to my sister Laura, lifelong advocate and servant to the feline tribe, for providing the raw material and the photograph for this story. I may have already written about Dollop’s general attitude towards life. His full name (A Little Slice of Pumpkin Pie with a Dollop of Whipped Cream) makes him sound all […]

The life and times of three girl dogs

Posted on February 13, 2021December 21, 2021 by Evelyn J. Willburn

For a period of about ten years, we had three medium-to-large dogs. The first of these three girls to join our family was Kushtaka (accent on the last syllable).* She was the third so-named dog in Scott’s family. I heard stories of the first and got to spend some time with the second. Koosh the […]

For the love of cats

About Me and my Blog

I am Evelyn J. Willburn, a retired educator who is fortunate enough to live in the rain forest of Southeast Alaska. I love to write! I find great inspiration in where I live (Craig, Alaska), in where I grew up (Powhatan, Virginia), from my husband and grown sons, my two excellent sisters, my extended family and friends, my pets and my garden, and the world all around me.

In addition to my own writing, I am posting work by other writers, including my late father and my very talented sister Laura.

My sister Mary hasn’t contributed any writing yet, but she is busy volunteering all over town and keeping her garden free of groundhogs.
